The Perfect 3-Day Valencia Itinerary

Three days in Valencia. Let's make them count.
Day 1: The Historic Heart
Morning: El Carmen & the Cathedral Start in El Carmen, Valencia's oldest neighbourhood — a labyrinth of medieval streets, street art, and excellent coffee. Visit the Cathedral and climb the Miguelete tower for panoramic views. Then walk to the Plaza de la Virgen and sit at a terrace café. Order a café con leche and watch the world go by. This is already better than your office.
Midday: Central Market The Mercado Central is one of the most beautiful markets in Europe — a Modernist masterpiece housing 1,200 stalls of fresh produce, seafood, and local specialities. Buy some fruit. Try the chufa (tiger nuts). Be overwhelmed by the beauty of the ceiling.
Afternoon: Silk Exchange & Almoina The Silk Exchange (La Lonja) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of Gothic civil architecture in Europe. Then descend underground at the Almoina Archaeological Museum to walk through Roman Valencia.
Evening: Ruzafa for dinner Head to the Ruzafa neighbourhood for dinner. This is Valencia's hippest area — independent restaurants, natural wine bars, and a buzzing atmosphere. Try Casa Carmela for traditional paella or Canalla Bistro for something more adventurous.
Day 2: The Modern City & the Sea
Morning: City of Arts and Sciences Arrive early for the best light and photographs. Visit the Science Museum and L'Oceanogràfic. Allow the full morning.
Afternoon: Malvarrosa Beach Take the tram (line 4 from Pont de Fusta) to Malvarrosa Beach. Swim, sunbathe, and eat arroz a banda (rice cooked in fish stock) at one of the beachfront restaurants. This is mandatory.
Evening: El Cabanyal Walk through the colourful Cabanyal neighbourhood as the sun goes down. Stop at a bar for vermut (vermouth) and boquerones (anchovies). Watch the light turn golden on the tiled facades.
Day 3: Parks, Markets & Departure
Morning: Turia Gardens Rent a bike and cycle the Turia Gardens from end to end. Stop at the Gulliver playground (yes, even if you don't have children — it's extraordinary). End at the City of Arts and Sciences for one last look.
Midday: Mercado de Ruzafa Visit the neighbourhood market for a final taste of local Valencia. Buy some turron (nougat) and horchata for the journey home.
Afternoon: Departure Leave Valencia feeling like you've discovered something. Because you have.
